Ringgit menyusut ke paras paling lemah, RM3.2154 berbanding dolar Singapura hari ini berikutan jangkaan bank pusat republik itu akan mengetatkan dasar monetari sekali lagi Oktober ini sekiranya inflasi berterusan.

Mata wang tempatan itu diniagakan antara 3.2020 dan 3.2110 pagi ini, sebelum susut kepada antara

3.2094 dan 3.2160 pada tengah hari selepas Singapura melaporkan data inflasi negara itu yang menyaksikan inflasi teras mencecah paras tertinggi baharu dalam tempoh 13 tahun.

Ringgit hari ini turut diniagakan rendah berbanding sekumpulan mata wang utama lain.

Mata wang tempatan merosot berbanding pound kepada 5.3621/3657 daripada 5.3187/3222 sebelum ini.

Ia turut merosot berbanding yen Jepun kepada 3.2654/2678 daripada 3.2389/2413 sebelum ini dan berkurangan berbanding euro kepada 4.5574/5605 daripada 4.5201/5231.

Pada 6 petang tadi, mata wang tempatan berada pada 4.4510/4540 berbanding dolar AS daripada 4.4515/4545 pada Jumaat.

Kenanga Research dalam notanya hari ini berkata, kelemahan ringgit sebahagiannya disebabkan oleh situasi COVID-19 yang semakin buruk di kebanyakan negara Asia, terutama China, selain risiko politik Eropah yang meningkat.

Jelasnya, kekurangan pemangkin domestik, ketidaktentuan ekonomi China dan sentimen global yang lemah berkemungkinan menghalang kenaikan ringgit.
