Ditahan kerana didakwa menanam ganja, seorang bekas diplomat bersama anak lelakinya dilaporkan telah dibebaskan semalam.

Memetik laporan Utusan, pihak polis gagal mendapatkan reman kali kedua daripada Mahkamah Majistret Bentong dan perlu membebaskan bekas diplomat itu.

Menurut peguam kepada bekas diplomat berkenaan, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, Majistret Shahrul Ekhsan Hasim tidak membenarkan permohonan reman kali kedua dibuat polis.

“Ini selepas beliau berpuas hati, antara lain tiada bukti untuk mengaitkan individu berkenaan dengan apa-apa kesalahan,” katanya.

Terdahulu, bekas diplomat yang berusia 78 tahun itu telah ditahan pada 21 Mei lalu selepas disyaki menanam dan memiliki ladang pokok ganja.

Anak lelakinya yang berusia 50 tahun pula telah ditahan di Shah Alam, Selangor.

Difahamkan, hampir 100 batang pokok ganja telah ditemui di kediamannya di Janda Baik, Pahang.

Tangkapan dan rampasan itu dikatakan berkemungkinan kejayaan serta antara kes terbesar dalam sejarah narkotik tanah air.

“Mungkin kegiatan merupakan antara yang terbesar di tanah air kerana ia melibatkan semaian, tanaman dan menghasilkan produk dipercayai berkaitan ganja,” kata Ketua Polis Pahang, Datuk Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf.

Beliau yang berstatus Datuk itu telah direman selama tujuh hari sehingga 28 Mei.

Kes tersebut disiasat mengikut Seksyen 39B, Seksyen 6B dan Seksyen 6 Akta Dadah Berbahaya 1952.
